We did it! We won the 2022 Make Your Own Wine Facility (U-Vint) of the Year Award in the world’s largest amateur wine competition! We are the best winemaking school in the country! Our winemakers and our wines racked up the most points in the WineMaker Magazine 2022 International Amateur Wine Competition to win this award for us! And wines made at the Wineworks racked up an impressive 19 medals including an incredible 8 gold medals.
A panel of highly trained wine judges tasted 1772 wines, from 5 countries, in 355 flights, for a total if 886 tasting hours to make their decision. And let’s not put too fine a point on it…we kicked butt! On the off chance of winning something, we traveled to San Luis Obispo to attend the WineMaker Magazine conference and awards dinner.
Two different Syrahs win Gold!
After 17 total trips up the aisle to received medals for our wines (I think the crowd was getting tired of hearing our names called out) we all made the final trip for U-Vint of the Year!
